Body Awareness is at the core of my practice. Physical symptoms of anxiety, trauma, depression, etc. are the body’s way of communicating very clearly that something is out of balance. As human beings we spend so much time in our minds trying to figure it all out, when in reality that approach is counterproductive. Instead, becoming more aware of physical symptoms is our best chance to begin to change our experiences of ourselves and the world. Our bodies intuitively know the answers and, with practice, hearing ourselves in this way becomes easier and more natural.
There are many ways to begin to know how the mind works and how the body responds, including through the use of mindfulness, meditation, and hypnosis. This new way of experiencing yourself can feel initially quite daunting, and thankfully - with practice - it doesn’t take long before awareness settles in, the body calms, and the mind relaxes.
